NKI: WeWantMore
More participation and more climate protection for our future

To achieve the aims of climate protection, established by the German government in 2010, a stronger responsibility of citizens is required – especially with regard on being more proactive in terms of active implementation of individual mitigation measures. Especially the younger generation should be involved in this process.

As part of the national climate protection initiative, local communities will give the possibility to young people to go new paths in developing climate protection initiatives. With the project “WirWollenMehr” (“WeWantMore”) young citizens are supported to decide which climate protection measures they think are useful and necessary, helping them further to develop the measures specifically. The main objective of the project is to raise the number of involved young people as well as the number of climate protection initiatives in local communities. This is supposed to reduce the gap between “decision making” and “bearing the consequences”. Over the project duration different workshops will take place to support young citizens developing their activities and measures and to support their implementation.
